Step inside a local Maldivian home kitchen and master the art of mas huni, garudhiya fish soup and coconut-laced curries under the guidance of a celebrated home cook. Then sit down to feast on your creations — an intimate cultural exchange that no restaurant can replicate.
What to expect
You are welcomed into a traditional Maldivian home in central Malé, where the aroma of freshly grated coconut and smoked tuna (the backbone of Maldivian cuisine) sets the tone immediately. Working alongside your host, you grind spices by hand, squeeze fresh coconut milk and learn the precise balance of tamarind, chilli and pandan that defines the local palate. The two-hour class concludes with a communal lunch of everything you've prepared, accompanied by roshi flatbreads and sweet black tea. You depart with a handwritten recipe card and a jar of house spice blend.
