Paddle through the glassy, kelp-laced waters of Kachemak Bay with a master guide — sea otters, harbor seals, and Dall's porpoises are regular companions on this intimate wilderness journey.
What to expect
After a thorough on-beach safety briefing and fitting into dry-top kayaking gear, you launch from the Spit into calm, protected waters. Your guide leads you past kelp forests teeming with sea otters cracking shellfish on their chests, and along rocky beaches where shorebirds nest. Paddling pace is gentle and exploratory; stops for wildlife observation and tidal-pool investigation are built in. Hot drinks and snacks are provided dockside on return.
Good to know
No prior kayaking experience required. The half-day tour (4 hours) fits comfortably within most port windows. Dress in warm layers — the bay temperature stays cold year-round. Book directly via True North's website; private guiding upgrades are available on request.
