Reichsburg Cochem: Private Guided Castle Tour & Battlements

Step inside one of Germany's most dramatic hilltop castles on a private guided tour. Explore medieval halls, armour collections, and sweeping Moselle Valley panoramas from the battlements — a true bucket-list moment.

What to expect

The Reichsburg dates to 1000 AD and crowns a vine-draped hill above Cochem, reached by a scenic 15-minute walk or a short taxi ride from the riverside. Inside, your guide leads you through lavishly furnished halls, a knightly weapons room, and a Gothic chapel before ascending to the open battlements. The 360° panorama over the Moselle's tight river bend is one of the most photographed views in the Rhineland-Palatinate. Guided tours run daily at set times, with English sessions typically at 12:30 PM — pre-arrange a private slot for groups.

Good to know

Allow 90 minutes total including the walk up. Last entry is typically 1 hour before closing (around 4 PM in shoulder season). Pre-book by emailing the castle directly to secure an English-language private tour. All-aboard time permitting, morning arrival avoids peak crowds.
