Taste Moselle Riesling at its source with Koll & Cie, Cochem's highest-rated winery (4.8★), in an intimate estate setting. A guided cellar-to-glass tasting with the winemaker reveals why this steep-slate terroir produces Germany's most complex whites.
What to expect
Koll & Cie sits within easy reach of the Cochem town centre and has earned an exceptional local reputation for estate-grown Rieslings from the valley's characteristically steep, blue-slate slopes. A private tasting typically begins with a short cellar walk explaining fermentation and barrel ageing before moving to a curated flight of three to five wines — from bone-dry Kabinett to luscious Spätlese. The winemaker or a senior family member presents each wine with food pairings of local charcuterie and artisan bread. Groups of up to twelve can be accommodated in the estate's tasting room.
Good to know
Contact the estate directly by phone or email to arrange a private group tasting — walk-ins may be possible but advance booking is strongly recommended for groups. The estate is approximately a 10-minute walk or short taxi from the river. Factor in 90 minutes minimum for the full experience.
