The bucket-list things to do — and who runs each one.
Here’s the bucket list for your day ashore: the most extraordinary thing to do at each stop, who runs it, and how to book it direct — so you can weigh it against your ship’s excursion and pick what suits you.
Step inside one of Germany's most dramatic hilltop castles on a private guided tour. Explore medieval halls, armour collections, and sweeping Moselle Valley panoramas from the battlements — a true bucket-list moment.
Glide along the Moselle's legendary river bends aboard a classic excursion vessel operated by the Kolb Brothers, the valley's most storied river-cruise family. Vineyard terraces, medieval villages, and castle-crowned ridges unfurl at water level.
Taste Moselle Riesling at its source with Koll & Cie, Cochem's highest-rated winery (4.8★), in an intimate estate setting. A guided cellar-to-glass tasting with the winemaker reveals why this steep-slate terroir produces Germany's most complex whites.
Soar above Cochem's rooftops on the iconic open-air chairlift to the Pinnerkreuz hilltop viewpoint. The bird's-eye panorama over the Moselle's oxbow bend, castle, and vineyard amphitheatre is the single most spectacular view in the entire valley.
Descend into one of Europe's most extraordinary Cold War secrets — the Bundesbank's classified underground bunker beneath the Moselle hills, built to store West Germany's emergency currency reserve. A chillingly fascinating piece of 20th-century history few travellers ever see.
Visit Cochem's celebrated Historic Mustard Mill — a working 19th-century stone mill producing artisan Moselle mustards. A hands-on tasting masterclass with the miller is a uniquely local, deeply flavourful encounter with a centuries-old German craft tradition.
