The Gulf of Calvi is one of Corsica's finest marine habitats — a Posidonia seagrass meadow teeming with grouper, moray eels, and sea turtles. A private guided dive baptism or expert-led snorkel tour (rated 4.9) delivers world-class underwater wonder with zero experience needed.
What to expect
Meet your instructor at Calvi Plongée's base on the marina for a full equipment brief and safety session. You'll boat out to the reserve's protected waters before slipping beneath the surface into a world of violet sea fans, shoaling barracuda, and ancient amphora shards from Roman wrecks. First-time divers are held by the hand from first breath to surfacing. Snorkellers explore the shallower Posidonia gardens with mask, fins, and a guiding expert pointing out hidden life. The excursion typically runs 2.5–3 hours.
Good to know
The dive centre is a 5-minute walk from the cruise pier. Morning slots (09:00–09:30) are best for calm seas and visibility. No experience necessary for a baptême dive. Book 48–72 hours ahead in peak season. Avoid diving within 12 hours of flying, but it does not conflict with boarding a ship.
