Private Dhow Snorkel Safari in Pomene Estuary

Drift aboard a traditional wooden dhow into Pomene's glittering estuary, then slip into crystal-clear shallows bursting with reef fish, corals, and sea turtles. An utterly remote, crowd-free underwater world on Africa's forgotten coast.

What to expect

Board your hand-carved dhow at the jetty and sail into the estuary under billowing sail. Your expert guide anchors at prime snorkel spots hidden from shore, where visibility can exceed 15 metres. Between dives, cold drinks and fresh fruit are served on deck as dolphins occasionally ride your bow wave. The return sail at golden hour is nothing short of cinematic.

Good to know

Pre-book at least 48 hours ahead — private dhow slots are limited. All-aboard is typically early evening; this half-day excursion returns with comfortable time to spare. Bring reef-safe sunscreen; no plastic bottles, please.
