Rumble through Pomene National Reserve's coastal dune forest in an open 4x4, tracking samango monkeys, bushbuck, and rare coastal birds before emerging onto a wild, white-sand beach utterly empty of footprints.
What to expect
Your open Land Cruiser departs from the port and enters the reserve via a track most visitors never find. The dune forest closes in — enormous cycads, wild date palms, and the calls of African fish eagles overhead. You stop at a clifftop viewpoint for a champagne toast over the Indian Ocean before descending to a private beach for a gourmet picnic. The return run often rewards with a hippo sighting at the estuary crossing.
Good to know
Pomene National Reserve entry fees are included in the price. Bring a light layer for the open vehicle at speed. Best booked for the morning; the full excursion runs 4–5 hours, comfortably within port time.
