Trek to the summit crater of Europe's most active volcano as darkness amplifies every fiery eruption. Watch rivers of molten lava cascade down the Sciara del Fuoco — a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle only the brave earn.
What to expect
After a safety briefing and equipment check, your licensed guide leads the group up the volcanic flanks as the sun sets, helmets and headlamps on. At the summit viewpoint, timed to nightfall, Stromboli's explosions light up the sky every 15–20 minutes and molten rock streams down the Sciara del Fuoco below you. The descent by torchlight is dramatic and memorable. Total trek duration is approximately 5–6 hours round-trip from the port.
Good to know
Stromboli is reached by hydrofoil from Lipari (approx. EUR 25–35 return). Night treks must be pre-booked directly with Magmatrek as permits are strictly limited. Confirm your ship's all-aboard time and plan for a full-day excursion (depart Lipari by midday). Sturdy hiking boots and long trousers are mandatory.
