Discover every corner of car-free Eigg on a premium electric bike — from emerald-green crofting townships to white-shell beaches and clifftop viewpoints. The island's compact road network makes this the most liberating and luxuriously paced way to see it all.
What to expect
Collect your e-bike near the pier and set off along Eigg's single-track roads with a printed island map. The route to the Singing Sands passes crofts festooned with wildflowers and offers constant views across the Sound of Eigg to Ardnamurchan. The island's pioneering 100%-renewable energy system — the first community grid of its kind in the world — is visible in the wind turbines and solar panels you pass; locals are delighted to explain it. Finish with lunch at the beloved Galmisdale Bay Café & Bar overlooking the anchorage.
Good to know
Eigg Adventures e-bike hire is bookable via the island visitor page (isleofeigg.org). The island is largely flat to gently rolling with one steep climb near An Sgùrr — e-assist makes it accessible to all fitness levels. Tender to Galmisdale pier. Half-day (4 hours) is ample; full day for those wanting the summit viewpoint loop.
