Paddle the sea caves, arches, and basalt stacks of Rathlin's coastline in a small-group guided kayak — the only way to access sea-level grottoes invisible from land and unthinkable from any boat.
What to expect
After a thorough briefing and kit fitting at Church Bay, your certified guide leads a small group (typically 6–8 paddlers) along the island's sculptured southern cliffs. The limestone and basalt geology creates a maze of arches, stacks, and surge channels navigable only by kayak. Seals haul out on low rocks, fulmars glide past at head height, and on calm days the water clarity reveals kelp forests metres below. The pace is relaxed and exploratory — this is discovery, not a workout.
Good to know
No prior kayaking experience required; full wetsuits, buoyancy aids, and paddles are included. Tours operate May–September, weather and sea-state permitting. Book directly with Causeway Coast Adventures well ahead of your cruise date; they hold spaces for small private groups. Allow 3–4 hours; bring a dry bag for valuables.
