Swap the coast for Corsica's dramatic interior — a private 4×4 ascent through chestnut-scented Ospedale Forest to the needle-sharp granite spires of the Aiguilles de Bavella, the island's most iconic mountain panorama. A landscape that feels as untamed as it did a thousand years ago.
What to expect
Depart the port by private 4×4 and wind up into the Ospedale plateau, stopping at the forest lake for coffee and panoramic views toward the sea. The track climbs to the Bavella pass (1,218 m) where the rust-coloured granite needles soar overhead. Your guide leads a short ridge walk to the best viewpoints, then descends via the Solenzara gorge for a swim in pools of luminous turquoise water. A full Corsican picnic — charcuterie, brocciu cheese, chestnut cake, and local wine — is laid out roadside under the pines.
Good to know
Full-day excursion, typically 08:30–17:00; confirm all-aboard time with your guide to calibrate the return. The mountain roads require 4×4 — this is not accessible by standard taxi or bus. Sturdy closed-toe shoes essential for the ridge walk. Operates May–October; check availability at the Porto-Vecchio Tourist Office.
