Paddle a sleek sea kayak through the glassy, island-studded waters around Stord, gliding silently past nesting white-tailed sea eagles, otters, and harbour porpoises in a landscape untouched by motorised tourism.
What to expect
Your certified guide outfits you in a quality sea kayak and leads you through a network of sheltered channels and coves that thread between Stord and its satellite islands. The water in these fjord-sheltered passages is mirror-calm, the silence absolute except for the drip of paddles and the cry of osprey overhead. Eagles habitually perch on the tallest pines fringing the shore, and your guide knows every nest — paddling you close enough for dramatic photographs without disturbing the birds. A shore break on a deserted islet for Norwegian coffee and freshly baked kransekake rounds out a morning of rare, unhurried wildness.
