The bucket-list things to do — and who runs each one.
Here’s the bucket list for your day ashore: the most extraordinary thing to do at each stop, who runs it, and how to book it direct — so you can weigh it against your ship’s excursion and pick what suits you.
Board a heated 8-seat vehicle with a certified local guide and chase the aurora borealis across the Hammerfest peninsula. With a maximum of 7 guests, this intimate experience delivers the Arctic night sky at its most spectacular.
Step inside a traditional Sámi lavvu (tent) at the celebrated Mikkelgammen camp just outside Hammerfest, meet a living reindeer herd, and hear ancient Arctic legends from an authentic Sámi host. A rare, deeply human encounter at the top of the world.
Receive your official membership into the world-famous Royal and Ancient Polar Bear Society (Isbjørnklubben) — one of the most storied and exclusive Arctic traditions a traveller can join. A Hammerfest rite of passage since 1963.
Explore the award-winning Museum of Reconstruction in Hammerfest with a private expert guide, uncovering the devastating Nazi scorched-earth campaign that razed all of Finnmark in 1944–45 and the remarkable human story of rebuilding from nothing.
Discover Hammerfest's extraordinary story — the world's northernmost town, an Arctic trading hub, and a WWII survivor — on a richly narrated private walking tour with a passionate local storyteller. The perfect way to read the soul of this remarkable city.
