This is a solid full-day trip if you want dramatic Andean scenery without a multi-day trek. You’ll drive up a winding mountain road past ski areas to the striking turquoise Inca Lagoon (Laguna del Inca), usually with a stop at a family-run winery in the Aconcagua Valley for a short tasting and snacks. Expect beautiful views, photo stops, and a mix of paved and dirt roads. The drive itself is part of the appeal, but the lagoon is the star—bright blue against snowy peaks. Tours typically last 8–10 hours and run in small groups or private vans. It’s scenic rather than strenuous; most of the time is spent in the vehicle or at viewpoints.
Best time is November to April when the lagoon is at its brightest and roads are clearest. Summer (Dec–Feb) offers warmer temperatures but can be crowded on weekends. Avoid winter unless you specifically want snow; many tours still run but the lagoon can be partially frozen and visibility drops. Expect to pay around $55–$120 per person depending on group size, inclusions, and whether it’s shared or private. Winery snacks and basic tastings are often included in mid-range options.
Pick a tour that includes both the lagoon and a winery stop; the contrast is nice and the snacks help. Skip if you get carsick on mountain switchbacks or if you’re short on time—half the day is driving. Bring layers, sunscreen, and a good camera. If you want something quieter, the Embalse del Yeso reservoir alternative in Cajón del Maipo is less touristy but requires a separate trip.
