Is the Manila Aquarium Worth Visiting?

Manila Ocean Park is a decent mid-sized aquarium located right next to the historic walls of Intramuros. Expect a pleasant but not mind-blowing experience: clean tanks with decent variety of local and tropical fish, a few sharks, stingrays, and a small reptile and bird section. The main oceanarium tunnel is the highlight — it feels relaxing for 30–45 minutes. Crowds can build up on weekends and holidays, but it rarely feels overwhelming. The whole visit usually takes 2–3 hours at a comfortable pace.

The best time to go is during the dry season (December to May) on a weekday morning right after opening. Heat and humidity make afternoons tiring, and the park sits in an exposed area near the bay. Expect to pay around $8–15 per person for a standard ticket; add a bit more if you want the underwater tunnel feeding show or bundled experiences. Transport and food nearby will push total cost per person to roughly $15–25.

Tip: Prioritize the main aquarium and the tunnel walk — those are genuinely well maintained. Skip the dolphin show if it’s running; it’s small, outdated, and feels unnecessary. Bring your own water and snacks — options inside are limited and overpriced. It’s a solid half-day activity if you’re already in Manila and like sea life, but don’t rearrange your whole trip around it.
