The Bondi coastal walk is a solid, scenic coastal path that runs mostly along clifftops between Bondi Beach and Coogee. Expect beautiful ocean views, regular swimming spots, and a mix of tourists and locals. The full Bondi to Coogee route is about 6km and takes 1.5–2.5 hours at a comfortable pace, with plenty of steps and gentle hills. It’s paved almost the entire way, so you don’t need hiking boots, but wear proper shoes. The scenery is consistently good rather than jaw-dropping the whole time; some sections feel a bit suburban.
Best time is spring (Sep–Nov) or autumn (Mar–May) when the weather is mild and the sun isn’t brutal. Summer is fine if you start early (before 9am) to beat the heat and crowds; winter can be surprisingly pleasant on clear days. Expect to pay around $0 if you do it yourself, or $60–120 per person for a guided group walk that includes commentary and sometimes a small snack or return transport.
Honest tip: do Bondi to Bronte if you’re short on time or energy – it’s the most picturesque section and only takes about 30–40 minutes. Skip the guided tour if you’re comfortable reading a basic map; the track is very easy to follow. Bring swimwear – the rock pools and beaches along the way are the real highlight on a warm day.
