The cable car ride from just outside the Old Town walls up to Mount Srd takes about four minutes and delivers the classic sweeping view of Dubrovnik's red rooftops, the city walls, Lokrum island, and the Adriatic. At the top you'll find a panoramic terrace, a small museum about the 1990s siege, a café, and the start of a few short hiking paths. The experience itself is straightforward: modern gondolas, often busy in peak season, with occasional queues of 20-40 minutes. It's not a thrill ride but the views are genuinely hard to beat, especially in clear weather. Sunset is the most popular slot and books up fast.
Expect to pay around €25-€35 for a return ticket depending on season and whether you buy online or at the station. Summer (June-August) is busiest with long lines and heat; spring and autumn offer better light, fewer crowds, and milder temperatures. One honest tip: skip the overpriced café at the summit and bring a bottle of water and a snack – instead walk ten minutes along the ridge path for much better, quieter viewpoints. If you're short on time or hate heights, skip it entirely; the views from the city walls are already excellent and free.
