Golfing in Montego Bay: What to Know

Montego Bay offers solid golf with ocean views, hilly terrain, and tropical breezes, but it's not the Caribbean's premier destination. Expect well-maintained resort-style courses that mix challenge with scenery—think elevated tees, water hazards, and occasional monkey sightings. Rounds take 4–5 hours. The heat and humidity can wear you down, especially if you're not used to it. Best time is December to April when it's drier and slightly cooler; summer and fall bring heat, rain, and hurricane risk that can close courses.

Expect to pay around $150–$300 per round including cart, depending on the course and whether you book a package with transport from your hotel. Caddies are often mandatory and add another $30–50. Hotel guests usually get discounted rates. Pick White Witch or Half Moon if you want quality and views; skip lesser-known tracks unless you're on a tight budget or just want to say you played. Book tee times in advance during peak season and bring plenty of balls—you'll lose a few.
