Lindt Home of Chocolate: Worth Visiting?

The Lindt Home of Chocolate is a modern museum and experience center about 15 minutes south of Zurich by train. Expect a slick, well-designed facility built around the world’s tallest free-standing chocolate fountain. You follow an audio-guided tour that covers the history of chocolate, cocoa bean processing, and Lindt’s own story. The tour takes roughly 60–90 minutes and ends with a tasting area where you can sample as much as you want from a decent selection of their bars and pralines. It’s informative and very chocolate-focused, but it feels more like a branded museum than an actual factory tour – you won’t see production lines running.

Best time to visit is weekdays in spring or autumn to avoid crowds; weekends and school holidays get busy. Expect to pay around CHF 15–25 per adult for the standard ticket including the audio guide and tasting. The combined ticket with a short old-town walk is also popular. Tip: skip the overpriced café and restaurant – the chocolate tasting at the end is generous enough. Do pick up a few bars of the darker single-origin chocolates in the shop; they’re noticeably better than the mass-market stuff and travel well.
