Los Arcos Boat Tour: Worth It?

The Los Arcos boat tour takes you to a small marine park just south of Puerto Vallarta known for its dramatic rock arches, decent snorkeling, and a few hidden coves. Most trips last 3.5 to 5 hours and include time for snorkeling (gear usually provided), a quick cliff jump if you’re brave, and a stop at a beach for swimming or relaxing. The water is generally clear but can get busy; don’t expect pristine empty bays. It’s a solid half-day activity if you want to get on the water without committing to an all-day trip.

Best time is November through April when seas are calmer and visibility is better. Summer and early fall often bring rougher water and more rain, making the ride uncomfortable and snorkeling poorer. Expect to pay around $50–$90 per person depending on group size, inclusions, and whether it’s a small tour or a packed catamaran. Smaller boats usually give you more actual snorkel time and fewer crowds.

Tip: Pick the version that includes both snorkeling and the beach stop; skip the ones heavy on open-bar if you actually want to see fish instead of nursing a hangover. Bring your own reef-safe sunscreen, a waterproof phone case, and cash for tips or snacks — many boats are cash-only on board.
