Mountain Biking in Los Cabos: Worth It?

Expect dry, rocky desert trails with surprising elevation changes and cacti that will punish any lapse in attention. The riding is a mix of moderate cross-country and some technical sections with loose rock and sand. Views are big—ocean, mountains, and desert all at once—but it's hot, exposed, and the dust gets everywhere. It's a solid half-day adventure if you're already comfortable on a bike, less ideal if you're a beginner or hate heat.

Best time is December through April when temperatures are comfortable. Summers are brutally hot and the rainy season (Aug–Oct) can make trails slick or impassable. Expect to pay around $120–$180 per person for a half-day guided trip including bike, helmet, and water. Full-day or private options push closer to $250+.

Pick the shorter morning tours that get you out before the heat builds. Skip the big “sunset” rides in summer—they’re mostly riding in the dark with lights. Bring your own gloves and a buff or bandana; rental ones are usually worn out. If you’re fit and like desert riding, it’s legitimately fun. If you’re looking for lush singletrack, you’ll be happier somewhere else.
