Should You Do the Stratosphere Edge Walk?

The edge walk at the Stratosphere Tower is exactly what it sounds like: you're harnessed to a rail and walk around a narrow platform 100+ stories above Las Vegas with no handrails or cage. It's not a thrill ride with big drops or speed; it's mostly a test of nerves while you stand on a 3-foot-wide ledge looking straight down at the Strip. Expect wind, some genuine fear if you're scared of heights, and incredible unobstructed views once you calm down. The whole outdoor portion lasts about 15-20 minutes after the elevator ride up. It's intense but safe, and most people finish feeling proud of themselves.

Best time is late afternoon or right at sunset when the desert light is soft and the Strip lights start coming on. Avoid midday in summer (110°F heat on concrete isn't fun) or windy days when they sometimes cancel. Expect to pay around $180–$250 per person depending on time of day and whether you add photos or a video package. The basic ticket gets you up the tower and on the walk; skip the unlimited ride passes unless you really want to ride the rollercoaster and spinning rides too.

Tip: Book the latest available daylight slot you can. The experience is dramatically better with the sunset transition than doing it in full daylight or complete darkness. And if you're even slightly hesitant about heights, just do the regular observation deck instead. The edge walk is 100% optional bravado.
