Sunset Cruise in Los Cabos: Worth It?

A Los Cabos sunset cruise usually means boarding a catamaran or sailboat around 4-5pm, motoring past the famous arch and rock formations while the sky turns orange and pink. Expect open-bar drinks (beer, margaritas, sometimes wine), basic snacks or a light dinner, and loud music—especially on the party-style boats. The smoother sails give you better views and photos; the pirate-ship versions add a kitschy show with dancing and games that some people love and others find ridiculous. The whole thing lasts about 2-3 hours. It's touristy but genuinely one of the better ways to see the coastline at golden hour.

Best time is November through May when the weather is cooler and seas are calmer. Summer and early fall can be hot, humid, and prone to swells that make people seasick. Expect to pay around $60-120 per person depending on boat size, open bar quality, and whether food is included. Smaller luxury sails with fewer people sit at the higher end.

Tip: pick a smaller catamaran that leaves from the marina if you want a relaxed vibe and decent photos; skip the big pirate ship unless you're traveling with kids who will enjoy the show. Bring a light jacket—even in winter the breeze gets chilly once the sun drops.
