It’s clean, well-designed, and easy to navigate, but it feels more like a polished tourist attraction than a big traditional zoo. Crowds can build up around the feeding talks, especially during school holidays.

The best time to visit is spring (September–November) or autumn (March–May) when the weather is mild and the animals are more active. Summer gets very hot and crowded; winter is quieter but some animals are less visible. Expect to pay around $50–$75 for a standard adult ticket. Adding a guided highlights tour with breakfast and a koala photo will push it to $90–$130 per person. Families should budget on the higher side.

Honest tips: Do the kangaroo walkabout and spend time in the Daintree section — they’re the most enjoyable parts. Skip the Nightfall area if you’re short on time or energy; it’s dark, repetitive, and the least impressive habitat.
