Book this experience →

The Philosopher's Path is a two-kilometer stone canal-side path through Kyoto's Higashiyama district, lined with hundreds of cherry trees that bloom spectacularly in early April. The path stretches from Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion) to the Nanzenji neighborhood and is named after philosopher Nishida Kitaro, who meditated while walking this route daily. Visitors stroll past restaurants, cafes, temples, and shrines, including the notable Honen-in Temple with its spectacular autumn entrance gate.
