What to expect
You leave from the small craft harbor and cross toward Lobos Island, where South American sea lions haul out in loud, chaotic colonies along the rocks. Cormorants, skuas, and steamer ducks work the shoreline at Pájaros Island nearby. The channel itself, framed by the Dientes peaks, is as much the show as the wildlife. Expect cold spray and a guide who knows the animals' patterns well enough to time the approach.
