End of the Road: Puerto Williams to Puerto Navarino Coastal Drive

A private 4x4 run along the island's last stretch of road, tracing the Beagle Channel to the literal end of civilization on Isla Navarino.

What to expect

The gravel road hugs the Beagle Channel coastline west of town, with Argentina's Ushuaia visible across the water and the Darwin Range beyond. You pass small Yaghan and Chilean settlements before reaching Puerto Navarino, a handful of buildings marking the end of the road system on the island. Condors and caracaras are common along the route, and your guide narrates the region's remote settlement history.

Good to know

Roughly 3-4 hours round trip on unpaved road; a private vehicle is the only sensible way to do this given how few people are ever out here. Book ahead since vehicles and guides are limited on the island.
