Interpretation Center & Las Tijeretas Bay Walk

A free, unhurried walk from the Galapagos National Park's excellent natural-history museum out to a clifftop overlook and a quiet snorkeling cove where frigatebirds nest overhead.

What to expect

Inside, well-designed exhibits trace the archipelago's volcanic origins, Darwin's visit, and the human settlement story — a 30–40 minute read if you engage with it. Outside, a shaded trail winds along cliffs where you'll spot frigatebirds and blue-footed boobies overhead, ending at Tijeretas Bay, a sheltered cove where sea lions often nap on the rocks and green turtles drift in the shallows.

Good to know

A 15-minute walk from the pier, no booking needed. Bring snorkel gear if you want to swim at the bay; go in the first two hours after opening to have the trail largely to yourself.
