A small-group highlands excursion to see giant tortoises roaming free (not behind fences) followed by a pristine, little-visited white-sand beach.
What to expect
The drive climbs into the misty highlands, past coffee farms, to the Galapaguera Natural Reserve, where giant tortoises graze freely in native habitat, some ambling right across the path. From there you descend to Puerto Chino, a crescent of white sand reachable only by a short forest trail, with turquoise water usually shared by only a few other visitors.
Good to know
Wear closed shoes for the tortoise reserve trail and bring a swimsuit for Puerto Chino. Half-day timing (morning departure) comfortably suits most ship schedules; confirm return timing with your guide.
