Dawn Light on the Old Town with a Fauvist Painter's Eye

Walk Collioure's Mouré quarter and harbor at first light with a working artist, tracing the exact spots Matisse and Derain painted in 1905.

What to expect

You meet your guide, a practicing local painter, on the quay just after sunrise, when the light on the Château Royal and pastel facades is at its clearest. You stop at reproduction easels along the Chemin du Fauvisme to compare the 1905 canvases to the view in front of you. The walk winds through the Mouré fishing quarter's narrow lanes, ending with coffee at a harborside table as the town wakes up. It's unhurried and conversational, more studio visit than lecture.
