See Myrtos Beach's white cliffs from the water at dawn, then anchor in a quiet cove near Assos before the day-trippers arrive. This is Kefalonia's postcard shot, experienced instead of photographed from a bus layby.
What to expect
You board at Fiskardo's old harbour and sail south along the coast as the light turns the limestone cliffs gold. The skipper cuts the engine near secluded swimming spots inaccessible by road, and there's time to snorkel off the boat. Lunch is often a simple spread of local cheese, bread and wine eaten at anchor. You're back in Fiskardo by early afternoon.
Good to know
Book the earliest morning departure to beat both the heat and the coach tours that arrive at Myrtos by mid-morning; bring reef shoes for the pebbly entry points.
