Sandy Island by Private Boat: Barefoot Sandbar Escape

A ten-minute boat hop lands you on a spit of white sand ringed by reef, with maybe a dozen people on the whole island. Snorkel the reef, then lunch on grilled lobster at the tiny beach shack.

What to expect

You step off the boat directly into ankle-deep water and soft sand with almost nothing built on the island except a thatched-roof bar and a few lounge chairs. The reef just offshore has good snorkeling with sergeant majors and the occasional turtle. Lunch is simple and fresh — whatever came off the boat that morning — eaten at a picnic table with your feet in the sand. It's the kind of hour that makes people rearrange their whole Caribbean itinerary next time.

Good to know

Ferry runs from Sandy Ground; last boat back is usually mid-afternoon, so confirm return time against your ship's all-aboard. Bring cash for lunch and the shack.
