Visit 'Niagara of the North,' a 40m waterfall on the Kaministiquia River, timed for early morning when mist and light are at their best and crowds haven't arrived.
What to expect
A boardwalk and short trail lead along the gorge rim to multiple viewpoints of the falls, which thunder especially hard in spring melt and after rain. Early morning brings mist rising off the falls in the low sun and a near-empty boardwalk. It's an easy, accessible outing well suited to any mobility level and pairs naturally with a stop en route to or from Ouimet Canyon.
Good to know
About 30 minutes from port by car/taxi; go right at opening (8am) for the quietest visit and best photography light.
