Glide a private kayak deep into the jade-green mangrove labyrinth of Klong Chao at sunrise, when mist rises off the water and kingfishers dart overhead. This is Ko Kood at its most untouched and luminously beautiful.
What to expect
Your guide meets you at the Klong Chao rivermouth just before first light, when the estuary is glassy and the jungle soundtrack is at its richest. You paddle upstream through cathedral-like mangrove tunnels, spotting monitor lizards on the banks and hornbills in the canopy above. Midway, you pull into a quiet sandbank to listen, breathe, and photograph the light filtering through the roots. The return leg opens onto Klong Chao Beach — one of Thailand's most beautiful stretches of ivory sand — where a fresh coconut awaits.
