Zodiac Expedition Among the Lower Savage Islands

Glide through the wild Hudson Strait aboard a nimble Zodiac, weaving between dramatic granite outcrops alive with seabirds and marine mammals. This is raw Arctic wilderness at arm's reach — utterly bucket-list.

What to expect

Board a rigid-hull Zodiac with a maximum of a dozen fellow explorers and your expedition naturalist guide. Cruise between the rugged, uninhabited granite islands as your guide identifies nesting thick-billed murres, harp seals hauled out on rocky shelves, and, if the tides align, beluga whales filtering through the strait. The guide narrates the geology and Inuit cultural history of these windswept islets throughout. The 90-minute experience concludes with a final sweep along the island chain before returning to the ship.

Good to know

Approximately 1.5 hours; waterproof expedition gear and life vests provided. Book directly through the Seabourn expedition desk on embarkation day or pre-voyage. Sea conditions in Hudson Strait can change rapidly — wear thermal layers beneath your gear. All-aboard time should be confirmed with your ship on the day.
