Karst Mangrove & Sea Cave Kayak Expedition

Paddle a sea kayak through Misool's otherworldly mangrove labyrinths and into cathedral sea caves lit by shafts of turquoise light from below — a slow, silent exploration of a landscape unlike anywhere else on the planet.

What to expect

You launch from a deserted shore and immediately enter a green tunnel of mangrove roots, the water so clear you can see every grain of sand three metres below. The route opens into a series of sea caves, their ceilings draped in stalactites and their floors illuminated by refracted turquoise light from submerged openings. Your guide points out blue-ringed octopus threading between the roots and sea eagles riding thermals above the karst ridgeline. Emerging onto open water, you drift in total silence — the limestone towers reflected perfectly in the still lagoon around you.

Good to know

Book as a private group for a completely self-paced experience; suitable for confident swimmers and paddlers — no prior kayaking experience required. Depart in the early morning for glassy water conditions and cooler temperatures. Wear a rash guard and water shoes; bring waterproof sunscreen and a hat. Confirm all-aboard time with your ship before booking and allow a 30-min buffer for the return boat transfer.
