The trap first-timers fall into is assuming Shanghai works like a European walking port. They dawdle off the ship, queue for a taxi without apps or Chinese addresses ready, then watch their half-day evaporate in highway traffic. Download Alipay or WeChat Pay, set up DiDi, and have every destination written in characters before you clear immigration. The return leg is worse in late-afternoon rush; miss the all-aboard because of a delayed taxi and the ship will not wait.
