Should You Take a Cooking Class in Los Cabos?

A Los Cabos cooking class is usually a half-day hands-on experience where you chop, blend, and grill alongside a local instructor. Most include a market or garden visit to see ingredients firsthand, then you prepare a few classic Mexican dishes like fresh ceviche, handmade tortillas, salsas, and a main protein. Expect a small group of 6-12 people, plenty of samples, and a meal at the end with what you made. It's genuinely fun if you enjoy cooking, but it does eat up 3-4 hours of beach or pool time.

The best season is November through April when temperatures are milder and tours run more reliably. Summer and early fall can be brutally hot and occasionally disrupted by storms. Expect to pay around $75–$150 per person depending on group size, inclusions like alcohol pairings, and whether transport is provided. Private classes sit at the higher end.

Pick classes that emphasize market tours and seafood-focused menus since the local catch is excellent here. Skip the ones that feel too touristy with giant groups or heavy on flour-heavy “Mexican” fusion dishes that aren't very authentic. Go hungry and ask questions—the instructors are usually generous with tips you can actually use at home.
