Most trips combine a 30-45 minute horseback ride or hike through muddy trails with time swimming in the pool at the base of the falls. The full-day versions usually add a catamaran ride to a shallow sandbar (often called Bacardi Island) for swimming and lunch. Expect a lot of waiting, group sizes from 8 to 30 people, and a very touristy but still beautiful natural setting. The waterfall itself is genuinely impressive; the rest of the day is more standard Caribbean excursion stuff.

Best time to go is December through April when temperatures are slightly cooler and rainfall is lower, making the trails less slippery. June to November is cheaper but you’re more likely to get heavy rain that turns the experience into a muddy slog.
