Manila Ocean Park: Worth It?

Manila Ocean Park is a mid-sized aquarium and marine theme park right beside the bay. Expect a few solid exhibits — a long shark tunnel, jellyfish tanks, touch pools, and a decent penguin area — plus some dated theme-park rides and animal shows. It's not world-class like Singapore or Sydney, but it's an easy half-day escape from Manila's heat and traffic, especially if you have kids. Crowds can get heavy on weekends; the place feels much better when it's quiet.

Best time to visit is December to February when it's cooler and drier. Avoid the peak rainy season (July–September) if possible. Expect to pay around $25–45 per person depending on whether you buy a basic ticket or the fuller attraction pass that includes the shows and extra zones. Add another $10–15 for transport and food if you're coming from Makati or BGC.

Honest tip: get the pass that covers the main oceanarium plus the big tank feeding show — that's the highlight. Skip the overpriced souvenir photos and the small, smelly petting zoo section; the money and time are better spent lingering at the jellyfish and seahorse exhibits instead. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes — you'll do a lot of walking on concrete floors.
