Kadavu Highland Rainforest Trek & Rare Bird Watching

Trek through Kadavu's mist-draped volcanic highland rainforest in search of the legendary Kadavu musk parrot and Kadavu fantail — two bird species found nowhere else on Earth. A nature bucket-list moment for wildlife lovers.

What to expect

Your naturalist guide leads a small group of no more than four along trails carved through dense tropical forest, pausing to point out the vivid crimson flash of the Kadavu musk parrot overhead and the delicate dance of the Kadavu fantail. Stops at freshwater streams and volcanic ridgelines reward with panoramic views across the Great Astrolabe Reef. The guide carries professional binoculars and a spotting scope, sharing ecological context that brings the forest alive. A chilled picnic of tropical fruits and local snacks is served at the summit viewpoint.
