Doctor's Cave Beach is a small, well-maintained strip of white sand right in the heart of Montego Bay. The water is calm, clear, and surprisingly shallow for quite a distance, making it good for families and casual swimmers. Expect a classic tourist beach scene: plenty of lounge chairs, loud music from nearby bars, vendors offering jet ski rides, hair braiding, and drinks. It gets crowded, especially when cruise ships are in port. Changing rooms and basic toilets are available but can be basic and sometimes crowded. The snorkeling right off the beach is mediocre at best — mostly sand with a few scattered fish.
Best time to visit is December to mid-April when the weather is driest and the sea is usually calmest. Avoid peak cruise-ship days if you want breathing room. Expect to pay around $15–25 for entry per person. A half-day guided tour from your hotel typically runs $80–150 depending on group size and inclusions. One honest tip: skip the overpriced on-beach food and drinks and walk two minutes to the nearby restaurants instead. Do rent a chair and umbrella early if you want a decent spot near the water — the beach is smaller than it looks in photos.
