Good to know Takasakiyama is approximately 10 minutes by taxi from Beppu port — an easy and inexpensive transfer. The park opens at 08:30; mornings see the most active troop behaviour. The full visit, including the monorail, takes approximately 60–90 minutes — ideal as a standalone experience or paired with the Oita Marine Palace Aquarium next door. Do not bring food visibly; macaques are opportunistic and rangers advise keeping bags closed.
